July NewsletterWell hello everyone! Everyone doing ok? Man has this month gone by fast. I've spent most of it out west. I started out the trip in Idaho. Wow, was that an interesting trip. You see I was going to fly out on an early flight but it seems as if everybody and their Grandmother was flying out that day (vacation week). I was bumped off all the flights on Friday. Needless to say I was not the happiest camper in the world. I went home and returned to the airport again on Saturday. The first flight out was scheduled for 8:00 AM so I had to be there by 6:00 AM. Well anyway, I got there and guess what? I Didn't make it on the flight. Finally they were able to get me on a flight that went through Denver, CO. I knew I was going to be pushing it already to get to the church on time. By the time my flight landed I had 3 hours to get to the church and set up. It was a 2 1/2 hour drive from the airport. I thought "Not a problem". Well it would not have been a problem if my bags had shown up! Yep you heard it! My bags went to Portland Oregon and here I am in Salt Lake City Utah. So that means I have no clothes, no guitar, no harmonicas, no tracks. ( That kinda sounds like a Gilligan's Island theme doesn't it?) So here's what we did. I asked the person who booked the date to go to the music store and rent a guitar, buy a harmonica and say a prayer! I made it to the church and did a concert totally unplugged. I hope that is the last time I have to do that. I flew from the Idaho trip to Seattle Washington for the next concert and I had a great time visiting with Pastor Al Hughes (My Big Band Buddy) and all the folks there. Then it was off to Portland Oregon where I was able to sing at a big 4th. of July celebration with "The Knox Brother's". Ed you guys are "Awesome"! If you ever get a chance to go and hear "The Knox Brother's" you should. The concert was held right down by the river and the river is full of Trout! I had a hard time keeping my mind on singing when those Trout kept popping the top of the water! I left Portland and took off for Alaska. Woooow!!! it was so beautiful out there! I played at four different places while I was there and I was able to meet some really great folks. You know many of these people were from the south. Places like Tennessee, Mississippi, North Carolina and Texas. Keith Bennett and his family went to Alaska on a mission trip from Mississippi. They felt the calling to stay and did! I was able to see many sites while I was there and I also snapped some pictures. Go over to the photo album page and take a look and tell me what you think. God Bless, Randy Miller
